it's about animals

ISIS is a non-profit organization that maintains computer-based information systems used by the worldwide zoological community. ISIS members use the basic biologic information (age, sex, parentage, place of birth, circumstance of death, etc.) collected in the ISIS system to manage genetic and demographic programs for their animal collections.

Through the ISIS impact section of this site, you may see how members use of the ISIS database for conservation efforts worldwide.

Some animal information is also availalbe to the public through this Web site. The ISIS Species Holding tool (available under "animals/find animals" on left-hand side of this page) will allow you to find out how many animals of each type are currently living in ISIS member institutions.

ISIS is supported by and works with many conservation partners. In addition, you may find links to other conservation organizations.
